Economic Analysis of Marketing and Constraints of High Yielding Variety Paddy (HYV) vs. Black Aromatic Paddy (Chakhao) in Imphal East District of Manipur

The present study was undertaken in Imphal East district of Manipur to know the marketing cost, margin, price spread, producer’s share consumer rupee, efficiency High Yielding Variety (HYV) paddy and Black aromatic paddy. A total 120 sample respondents are analysed. Among these 42 marginal farmers,36 small farmers,26 semi medium 16 farmers .For yielding variety paddy, channel I, overall average net receive by producer is Rs.1885 per quintal purchase Rs.2000 quintal. In channel-II, Rs.1609 Rs.3000 For Aromatic channel-I, received Rs.6185 quintal, Rs.6300 Rs.5109 Rs.12000 Marketing revealed that for channel-I high with 16.39. Paddy, 53.78.Farmer should chose those channels which have lesser intermediaries get maximum profits. Price fluctuation, lack suitable govt.
